The traffic jam continued at the newly started Kamothe and Kharghar toll plazas on the Sion-Panvel road. Even at 3.30 pm, there is a long queue of vehicles at the newly started Kamothe toll plaza, due to the slow toll collections operation here. Earlier in the morning, the toll plaza was vandalized by political activists over the toll issue.
Also, those vehicles with the registration numbers starting with `MH 46' have been exempt from paying the toll here.

"The vehicular traffic going from Mumbai to Pune Expressway has significantly slowed down at the Kamothe toll plaza. Since today is the first day of toll collections, there seems to be some operational hurdles, which should hopefully be overcome as the day goes by," said the senior police inspector (traffic) Pradeep Giridhar of the Kalamboli division.
